This latest wave of crimes in north metro Atlanta makes you want to take a wad of cash with you before dining out anymore.
A waitress was caught stealing a bunch of credit card numbers from unwitting customers and charged goods and services against their accounts while she worked at multiple restaurants in Dunwoody, Ga.
Nicey Marie Joseph, 26, who lives in Forest Park, on the other side of metro Atlanta, has been charged with three counts of financial transaction card fraud, two counts of elder exploitation and two counts of identity fraud, Officer Tim Fecht with Dunwoody police told the AJC.
Of course, police believe there are more people out there that Joseph stole from using the same methods. And, of course, Joseph was immediately terminated from her job as a waitress.
Joseph employed modern technology to conduct her high-tech crimes.
“During her time at these restaurants, Joseph was documented using a mobile card reader connected to a ‘smart’ cellular phone in order to steal and fraudulently use victim’s credit card numbers when they paid for their meals,” Fecht said in a statement.
Joseph is currently being housed at the DeKalb County jail against a $12,000 cash-only bond.
