As if it couldn’t get any worse for Minnesota Viking’s superstar running back Adrian Peterson
Merely hours after the All-Pro running back offered a sincere mea culpa for injuring his one son after whooping him with a switch, Peterson was reported to have been accused of injuring another son as he administered discipline.
Peterson was indicted by a Texas grand jury on Friday and deactivated by the Vikings for this past Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, a pathetic loss at home. This doubtlessly prompted the beleaguered team to lift the sanctions on Peterson so that he could give the team a better chances at salvaging their season — though they carefully couched the language as letting “the judicial process” run its course.
Now Peterson has also been reported to Child Protective Services on a separate allegation of child abuse by a different mother, reported KHOU-TV in Houston on Monday.
Citing text messages and photos allegedly sent by Peterson to the boy’s mother, KHOU reported that the child in the second case was left with a scar over his right eye. TMZ reported that no charges were filed in the alleged incident detailed by KHOU-TV because it was determined that the punishment administered by Peterson was “not impermissible.”
Peterson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, issued a statement in response to the KHOU-TV report.
“The allegation of another investigation into Adrian Peterson is simply not true. The allegation is more than one year old and authorities took no action. An adult witness admittedly insists Adrian did nothing inappropriate with his son.”
