BLACK TIE- Albert and Annice Reese

The invite says “black tie” what do you do? Most would assume that you pull out the tuxedo and a formal dress.
According to the Black Tie Guide the appearance of Black Tie on an invitation indicates unequivocally that the host expects tuxedos to be worn.

Black Tie Required or Black Tie Only means the same thing but can come across as heavy-handed.
Hosts should avoid the latter unless they are certain that there will be guests too naïve or inconsiderate to infer the mandatory nature of the former.
There will likely be those few guests who will wrongly interpret Black Tie to simply mean “formal” and arrive in whatever they feel appropriately dressy.
At the recent FROGS Formal held in Pittsburgh, Albert and Annice Reese know the meaning of Black Tie. They say they like to get dressed.
This couple shows what Black Tie is all about with Annice in a beautiful red chiffon with an embroidered bodice from Babettes in Bridgeville PA and Albert is wearing a tux by Everett Hall. Of course he owns his own tuxedo, no rental for this sharp gent.
This is what Black Tie is all about.
