SANFORD-BROWN FAMILY WELLNESS WEEK ENCOURAGES ATLANTA FAMILIES TO FOCUS ON HEALTHLY LIVING

Experts regularly report that physically active children tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance and classroom behaviors. Conversely, the lack of adequate consumption of healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, or dairy products is associated with lower grades among students.

Sanford-Brown Atlanta knows the importance of helping families adopt healthy eating and exercise habits. That’s why Atlanta is one of ten locations nationwide participating in the school’s Family Wellness Week. The mission is simple: to inspire families to live healthy lifestyles.

On Wednesday, August 6th the whole family – children, moms, dads, grandparents and pets – in the Atlanta area are invited to take advantage of free healthcare screenings and educational activities: glucose and blood pressure checks, exercise demonstrations, dancing, vision tests, and other lessons on making healthy choices.

Family Wellness Week provides an opportunity for Sanford-Brown students to take their classroom knowledge into the community to ensure all families have access to healthcare screenings.
