Steve Harvey plans to sprinkle in some serious education for masses amid all the “turning up” and partying that will take place during the Ford Neighborhood Awards weekend.
Morgan Stanley is sponsoring free financial seminars this weekend on both Friday, Aug. 8th and Saturday, Aug. 9th inside the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.
Attendees will learn how to make smart decisions about money, taking control of finances and saving for the future during the State Farm 2014 Neighborhood Awards Weekend Expo.
Since the average African American net worth is a deplorable 1/10th of their white counterparts, many could use some tutelage in such topics as “The Art of Budgeting, Saving and Investing” and “Understanding Credit (Good and Bad), and “Retirement Planning.”
“Smart money management is not as much about how much money you make, but more about what you do with the money you have,” said Marilyn Booker, Head of Morgan Stanley’s Urban Markets Group in New York, which is presenting the seminars. “The seminars are designed to prompt people to start thinking about how they can save and create wealth.”
The seminars will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday the 8th, 11:30 AM on Saturday the 9th, and 1:30 PM on Saturday the 9th. Topics may include “The Art of Budgeting, Saving and Investing;” “Understanding Credit (Good and Bad) and “Retirement Planning.”
