Lets say you are on the board of an organization that has an outstanding reputation for community development, wellness, fitness and a great way of life. Then you plan a date to sponsor a fundraiser, hope the weather holds up and host it at a gloriously, beautiful setting that showcases the entire city.
On June 27, the board members of the Thelma Lovette YMCA of Centre Avenue in the Hill District, did exactly that, as Don and Anna Cortland of  Grandview Avenue, in Mt. Washington, opened their spectacular, three story town house, that over looks the Pittsburgh skyline, for this event.
The event was not only an opportunity to raise funds for the community, it was also a feast for the palate. Sumptuous food and wine provided by the recently opened Matteo’s restaurant, located at 3615 Butler St., in Lawrenceville. Their customers can indulge in fine foods prepared by chef Matt. Tasty treats during the swanky gathering were, delicious crab cakes, mouthwatering goat cheese, fruits and grilled chicken sliders, and to wash it all down, the finest Italian Roscato and Moltoi Malbec wines.
As the guests mingled and enjoyed one another on the outdoor pool and patio deck, fine jazz, played by Tubby Daniels on the vibes and Leonard Johnson on the synthesize keyboard, kept the atmosphere smooth.
A fun raffle of great gifts contributed to the evenings’ festivities. Overall the event was a successful one. The fundraiser garnered a whopping, $50,000 dollars for the Thelma Lovette YMCA.
