A demented dad in Flint, Mich., appeared to smirk after being sentenced to up to 40 years in prison for brutally beating his 2-year-old daughter because he wanted her to be gay instead of straight.
Yes, you read that right.
The unhinged father, Donovan Lamar Haynes, 32, believed that he needed to toughen up his 2-year-old daughter, Ti’Airra, and make her gay so that she would avoid psychotic men like himself.
From this backwards and ridiculous premise, Haynes began to beat the girl severely and relentlessly. Authorities unfortunately found the girl unconscious in the basement of Haynes’ mother’s home. The little girl was rushed to the emergency room and later died of internal bleeding from a lacerated liver.
During court proceedings, Haynes’ lawyer tried to intervene or soften the sentencing by pleading with the judge that needed to undergo a psychological evaluation.
The ploy failed.
Observers believe Haynes smiled during his sentencing and failed to exemplify any remorse for the callous killing.
Haynes got four decades in prison for the second degree murder conviction, then received another 15 years for first degree child abuse. The sentences will run concurrently.
