The Florida father who beat the male babysitter unconscious after he allegedly caught him sexually assaulting his his 11-year-old son admitted that he was going to kill the teen before the abused child intervened.
Jason Browning finally opened up to WKMG-TV and says he went blank when he caught Raymond Frolander, 18, after he walked into a bedroom of the Daytona Beach home and found him sexually assaulting the boy on July 18.
After pummeling the teen to within an inch of his life, Browning admitted that he grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen.
“I was going to kill him,” Browning admits before his son pleaded to quit.
“My son is the one who stepped in front of me and stopped me. My son saved his attacker’s life. So who’s really the hero in this situation?”
Browning, who said he was abused as a child, said he treated Frolander like family and often left the teen to take care of his children.
“There was nothing uncommon to let the kids go in the bedroom and play video games together and now I have to wonder why the door was shut,” he said.
Frolander not only admitted to abusing the boy that day, but that he sexually assaulted the 11-year-old over a three-year period. Browning, however, said the teen was out of town for most of that time and only recently came back.
The county sheriff said the father will not face any charges for the attack.
Now that the physical nightmare is over, Browning said the most difficult part of it all is having to talk about it with his son.
“I’m not going to pressure anything on him,” the Browning said.
“Like I said, I know exactly what he’s going through. When he’s ready to talk about it, he will.”
