A tidal wave of humanity spilled onto Peachtree Street in the Buckhead section of Atlanta for the 45 annual Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race early Friday Morning on July 4th.
An estimated 60,000 runners form around the country took part in the annual race.
The men’s race began at 7:30 a.m. and tracked down Peachtree Street to 10th Street in midtown Atlanta. The women’s professional division began at 7:17 a.m. The wheelchair race for the AJC Peachtree Road Race started at 6:45 a.m.
The runners, who began at Lenox Mall on Peachtree Street in the 6-mile race, finished the race just outside Piedmont Park.

- Women’s elite winner: Amy Hastings, from Long Beach, California
- Men’s wheelchair division winner: Krige Schabort, from Cedartown, Georgia
- Women’s wheelchair division winner: Tatyana McFadden, from Clarksville, Maryland
