Actor Tracy Morgan is in intensive care and in critical condition after his limo overturned in a fatal car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday, New Jersey State police said.
Morgan, who came to fame through “Saturday Night Live” and joined with fellow SNL star Tina Fey to turn “30 Rock” into a blockbuster television comedy show, was reportedly traveling in a limo bus with six other people when it crashed around 1 a.m. near Trenton, N.J. on the highway.
Two tractor trailers, an SUV and two passenger cars were also involved in the accident. It is not not clear who was at fault, New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. first class Gregory Williams told CNN.
“The limo bus is the only vehicle that overturned,” Williams said. “Looks like one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that’s preliminary at this time.”
One man who was traveling with Morgan on the limo bus had died.
Morgan and five other passengers were taken to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, N.J.
The conditions of the other passengers were not immediately available. There were no other injuries reported, police said.
The New Jersey Turnpike was closed for more than five hours after the crash and was finally reopened after 6:30 a.m .
