GM CEO Mary Barra said Thursday an internal probe showed no conspiracy to hide problems, but it did find a “pattern of management deficiencies and misjudgments.”

Barra continued, “As I lead through this crisis, I want everyone to know I am guided by two clear principles,  first we will do the right thing for those who were harmed, and second we will accept responsibility for our mistakes and commit to doing everything in our power to ensure this never happens again.”

Barra advised of GM’s internal displinary action:
– 15 employees have been dismissed from various departments including legal, compliance and engineering
– 5 employees disciplined
– GM will establish a victims compensation fund.
Although, GM executives may not have been deemed the core source of the issues within General Motors, some of the employees disciplined and dismissed were top executives.
General Motors launched an internal investigation in early April into the failure of the company to recall cars with faulty ignition switches that are linked to at least 13 deaths.
