R&B royalty was sprinkled among the throngs of fans like gold dust as rising girl group Havok Jones paid homage to members of the groundbreaking 90′s girls groups at The Lounge in downtown Atlanta on Tuesday, June 3.
LaTavia Roberson from the bestselling girl group of all time, Desiny’s Child, was joined by Meelah Williams of the group 702, legendary soul singer Angie Stone, Waka Flocka “momager” Debra Antney and many others were on hand or the ASCAP sanctioned “Inaugural Homage: A Tribue to 90′s Girl Groups” that was hosted by the eternally effervescent Jamie Foster Brown, founder of Sister2Sister magazine. The event was also sponsored by Voscato.
You could feel the aura of the iconic 90′s girls groups flowing through the stylish club like a powerful undercurrent that electrified and powered the Havok Jones members — Kea Aleis, MaiDai, Aire B. and Neiko — who performed spine-chilling renditions of “Say My Name” and “Who Should I Run To” by Destiny’s Child and Xcape, effortlessly reaching octaves that could stopped birds in mid-flight.
This event punctuated the month where Havok Jones is preparing to release a 90′s girls groups homage EP with singles in dedication to the likes of En Vogue, Destiny’s Child, TLC, SWV and Xscape.
