Holt celebrates 100th birthday

On May 3 friends and family gathered to celebrate the 100th birthday of Anna Ruth Holt at th Wyndham Hotel in Oakland.
Holt,who was born Anna Ruth on May 3, 1914 in Rappahannock County in Virginia, came to Pittsburgh at the age of 5.She was the youngest child of 12 siblings, all of whom are deceased.
Holt married Wilburn “Billy” Holt in 1932. They were married more than 50 years before he passed away in January 1982.

Together they had four children; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 10 great, great, grandchildren.
She devoted most of her time to taking care of her children, her blind husband and to serving in her church—the First Church of God in Christ for more than 50 years.

She worked for over 30 years at the G.S.P.H Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh.
