Point Guard Earns Player of the Week Honors for the First Time in his Career
ATLANTA, GA —– Atlanta Hawks guard Jeff Teague was today named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week
for games played Monday, April 7, through Sunday, April 13. Teague averaged 20.3 points, 5.8 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 33.8 minutes per game (.509 FG%, .917 FT%) in four games. The Hawks went 3-1 for the week, including wins over Miami and at Brooklyn.
 
On 4/12 against Miami, Teague tallied 25 points, a season-high tying four steals, four rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes (zero turnovers) as Atlanta clinched a playoff berth for the seventh consecutive season (the longest active streak in the Eastern Conference).  He accumulated a 3.83 assist/turnover ratio for the week. He led all Eastern Conference point guards in +/- ratio (+37) and made field goals (tied with 27), while ranking second in total steals (seven) and tied for second in made free throws (22).
 
In the Hawks’ 93-88 victory over the Nets on April 11, the 6-foot-2 point guard scored 14 of his 22 points in the second quarter as Atlanta defeated the Nets in Brooklyn, snapping their 15-game home winning streak. Over his last seven contests, Teague is averaging 21.0 points on .521 FG%, .394 3FG% and .895 FT%.
 
The honor is the first Player of the Week award of Teague’s career.  He is the second Hawk to win the award this season (Paul Millsap for games played 1/20-1/26) and the 14th overall to earn the distinction.
