Community Leaders Come Together to Tell Atlanta’s Story as the Nation’s Best Place to Live, Work and Grow a Business
Choose ATL, a bold and exciting campaign aimed at solidifying Atlantaʼs place as the nationʼs digital hub, has officially launched. The campaign tells Atlantaʼs untold story as well as showcases why itʼs a great place to live, grow, share ideas and build the worldʼs best organizations.
Influencers from Atlantaʼs leading businesses, professional organizations, start-ups and local government came together to bring the concept to life. The campaign’s centerpiece is the Choose ATL website. The site includes an inspirational video to create excitement and build a sense of pride among Atlantans.
Atlanta is a tree-lined city with an incredibly diverse population, experiencing an unprecedented period of growth. The city is an educational powerhouse, a cultural hub and home to a number of powerful companies – from innovative start-ups to Fortune 500 brands. Atlanta has a low cost of living and is a true breeding ground for new talent – being home to more than 60 major universities, including Emory University and Georgia Tech.
Although Atlanta boasts 263,000 tech jobs and has the most entrepreneur-friendly economy in the nation, people across the country still often only think of San Francisco and New York for big opportunity or Austin and Portland for quality of life.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said, “In Atlanta, we not only welcome innovation, we actively nurture it. More than any other city, we offer incomparable resources to realize potential and great ideas set forth by forward-thinking individuals and businesses. Atlanta is at the cutting edge of the digital industry, and the launch of this Choose ATL campaign is just the start of the amazing future that lies ahead for our community.”
The concept for the campaign was first sparked during a discussion at Nebo, a digital marketing agency, comparing Atlantaʼs growth to the rise of Silicon Valley.
“Atlanta is the perfect convergence of life and work – of technology and quality of life – of excitement and opportunity,” said Brian Easter, CEO of Nebo. “If youʼre in digital or launching a new venture, Atlanta is where you want to be.”
The community-driven initiative has gained an overwhelming level of support from major brands, key influencers and local politicians to leverage the cityʼs pride, and truly tell its story.
“Atlanta has long been regarded as a city of opportunity, especially for those living in the southeastern United States,” said Kwanza Hall, Atlanta District 2 city councilman. “As digital becomes more central to our way of living, Atlanta has every reason to stake a claim at the center of this conversation. By promoting Atlanta’s singular advantages to the digital and technology communities, we can recruit a new generation of digital entrepreneurs to the city and encourage those already in Atlanta to help us spread the good word.”
Other Choose ATL board members who made this initiative possible, include the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Home Depot, Hypepotamus, Lyda Interactive, Turner Broadcasting, Engauge and Invest Atlanta, among others.
“We are really excited to be a part of this initiative,” said Brian P. McGowan, President and CEO at Invest Atlanta. “Atlanta has such a great history of entrepreneurship and innovation and has built an ecosystem that has helped entrepreneurs like Sarah Blakely and Tyler Perry grow billion dollar enterprises. We are thankful to all of our partners who are working together to show the world how much our region has to offer entrepreneurs.”
