The challenges of being an entrepreneur can often be over whelming. Within the last decade the benefits of utilizing technology and social media to advance one’s business has become one of the top trials and tribulations for small businesses. But to Shimira Williams who defines herself as an innovator, educator, tenacious Science Technology Engineering and Math advocate and an economic stimulator of technology education; incorporating technology into a business is as easy as eating a piece of cake. In fact she says she eats and sleeps technology which includes social media.
“The key to having a successful social media campaign,” she said, “is to experiment with the different tools. There is a lot out there but the only way you know what works for you is by trying.”
With the goal to provide organizations and individuals with technical assistance she started Productivity, LLC in 2007 but since then her mission has been focused on providing technology education to children and adults as well as providing integration assistance to organizations. To tie it all together she also operates TekStart, a STEM-based before and after-school program that includes a summer program. Designed for students from Kindergarten to age 13, the Pennsylvania licensed after-school program focuses on providing children with what she classifies as a “kick start in technology education.”
