Singer Robin Thicke and wife actress Paula Patton have been one of the most talked-about celebrity couples, but the pair are now ending their nine-year marriage. In a statement, Thicke and Patton announced their decision publicly to separate although it appears the move was amicable.
PEOPLE magazine got the exclusive scoop on the split, with a joint statement briefly laying out the terms of their new lives apart.
“We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” wrote the pair in the statement. Thicke and Patton have known each other since they were teens, marrying in 2005. The couple has one son, Julian Fuego Thicke, who was born in 2010.
Thicke, 36 and Patton, 38, seemed to be inseparable, with the singer featuring his wife in one of his music videos as a love interest. Thicke’s star has been rising in the world of music of late with a strong showing in 2013, while Patton just finished starring in the smash comedy hit, About Last Night.
A quick scan of Patton’s Twitter page still announces her as Thicke’s wife, although the account hasn’t been active since Valentine’s Day. Thicke’s Twitter timeline hasn’t been active since last Friday.
