TUNE IN: John Legend Battles Robin Thicke At 2014 NAACP Image Awards

LEGEND-THICKEThis year has been great for R&B music, especially coming from the male artists. In 2013, John Legend dropped an album that was a return to form, so to speak. On his project “Love In the Future,” Legend stopped his use of big pop melodies and hooks in favor of the more grounded and laid back vibe of his debut album. Because of his wonderful artistry, Legend is nominated for Outstanding Male Artist at the 2014 NAACP Image Awards.

Although Legend had one of the best R&B albums of the year, he faces stiff competition in the category. Along with Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, Legend is going up against Robin Thicke. Thicke had a monster smash in the hit single “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams. The track won the title of song of the summer. Many love the song because of the catchy lyrics and it reminding them of Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up.”
So who will win the award–John Legend’s album that’s a return to his old self or Robin Thicke, the man who used elements from the past to propel his career forward? Find out on Saturday February 22 at 9pm on TVOne. Tell them The Urban Daily sent you.
