After receiving a flood of negative tweets about her Golden Globes dress on Sunday night, “Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe, took to Twitter to hit back. And hit back she did.
The Oscar-nominated actress, also known for work on “American Horror Story” and Showtime’s “The Big C,” was none too pleased about what she saw on social media and she didn’t hesitate to let everyone know just how she felt.
“To people making mean comments about my GG pics, I mos def cried about it on that private jet on my way to my dream job last night,” she tweeted Monday.
After that the haters fell deathly silent. In fact, her haughty response turned social media 180 degrees and put Sidibe in a much better mood.
The responses to her smack down took a decidedly different tone and the actress sent another tweet, this time to thank supporters and to insist she wasn’t that fancy.
“Yay! Everyone is so wonderful and supportive of my shade! This might be a problem down the line. Thank you!”
She added the hash tags #notmyjetthough and #imnotthatfancy.
We met Gabby in 2011 when she came to Atlanta at the invitation of Jane Fonda for the screening of a documentary called “Jane.”
“By all accounts I am not supposed to be an actress,” Sidibe said that night. “I am not a size 0. I am not blond. I don’t have ivory skin. Stepping into this career means making a lot of people wrong and I love that.”
