Oxygen to Cancel 'All My Babies' Mamas' - Report

New reports say that the network has decided to officially pull the plug on its one-hour special, 'All My Babies' Mamas' starring rapper Shawty Lo.

Representatives for Oxygen have all but ceased mentioning the show publicly and new reports say that the network has decided to officially pull the plug on its one-hour special, "All My Babies' Mamas" starring rapper Shawty Lo, his 11 children and 10 babies' mothers.

The report comes from Alison Samuels of the Daily Beast who writes, "Though the network denies it, Oxygen is expected to announce that 'All My Babies' Mamas' won't ever see the light of day, according to my sources — and that's a good thing."

The cancelation comes on the heels of author Sabrina Lamb's petition to have the show banned from the airwaves that has gotten 40,000 signatures to date. Public outcry about the show has been almost universal.

Lamb had also threatened to lead a boycott of any sponsors who put their money behind the idea.

"How could a network ever assume that a show about an African-American rapper with 11 kids by 10 women would be OK and not immediately deemed racist? How could it not see that it was offending, insulting, and mocking an entire segment of the African-American community?" Samuels writes.

The Parents Television Council also previously asked the network not to let the program on the air, calling it "grotesquely irresponsible and exploitive."
Executives at the network had been backpedaling from the program since last week when they presented their spring lineup to television writers.

Oxygen, an NBCUniversal cable network owned by Comcast, brought its programming chief before television writers on Monday to tout new shows like "Fat Girl Revenge," "Find Me My Man" and "Too Young to Marry?" The cable network aimed at young women made no mention of "All My Babies' Mamas," which was announced in a news release the day after Christmas.

Ronald #1 and #2 :-? ...You may not be racist, but you're certainly ignorant. When my son turns on the television or looks around him, I want him to see a lot more Obamas than Shawty Los. Ignorance has already taken over contemporary black music and now it's threatening to define our "reality" on television. It doesn't happen all-at-once. It happens one song at a time...one Shawty Lo exploitation at a time. If you offer no contribution to the empowerment of black people, then please sit down, shut up, and let some people with sense work. You're worse than congress right now...just hush. (If you didn't get that reference, get off the gossip sites and read a paper. Don't come back until you figure it out either...)

Let that man be an example of how to take care of your kids, i know a lot of dudes with multiple baby mama's hell I come from men who had kids with different women and having different families It's as if they don't want to show a man making a positive from a negative situation. now that's racist. I was actually waiting to see the damn show now some pro black muthafucka with an online petition stopping young men from seeing what they need too. inspiration to you isn't always inspiring to the next person black people need to stop being so damn sensitive and get money and a damn life. and i'm black got dammit now call me racist.

how in the hell is a man with 11 kids and 10 babies mama's racist. it would be different if a white man with 10 kids by black women had a wife and kids at home and taking care of them and not his other kids. this shit is stupid he is taking care of his kids maybe a lot of black men need to see this so they can be motivated to take care of his kids. that bitch is wack and so is anyone else who tries to cover up reality because they don't like it people like that act like slave masters not the tv network. oh yeah and i'm a young black man.
