Morehouse's Shawn Allen was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Player of the Week and Courtney English of Miles was named SIAC Women's Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
SIAC Men's and Women's Newcomer of the Week were awarded to Benedict College freshman Brennan Reynard and Paine College sophomore Ashley Watts, respectively.

Shawn Allen, Senior, Morehouse
Position: Forward Height: 6-5 Weight: 210 Hometown: New Orleans, LA
Allen has been the lightning-rod this season for Morehouse, which is undefeated in the SIAC and currently riding a five-game winning streak. In the Tigers 98-96 win over Stillman, the native of New Orleans, LA scored season-highs in points (26), rebounds (11), assists (6), and steals (3).
Women's Player of the Week
Courtney English, Senior, Miles
Position: Forward Height: 6-0 Hometown: Atmore, AL
English recorded her seventh and eight double-double of the season in games against Paine and Albany State. She had a season high in points and rebounds against Albany State with 28 points and 18 rebounds.
Men's Newcomer of the Week
Brennan Reynard, Freshman, Benedict
Position: Guard Height: 5-11 Weight: 175 Hometown: Slidell, LA
The freshman has been playing above the rim this season as the floor general for the streaking Tigers basketball team. Reynard averaged 10.3 points, three assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals in last week's win against LeMoyne-Owen, Lane, and Kentucky State.
Women's Newcomer of the Week
Ashley Watts, Sophomore, Paine
Position: Guard Height: 5-6 Hometown: Augusta, GA
The sophomore has enjoyed a breakout season this year, while leading the Lady Lions to a 4-1 record in the SIAC. In wins over Miles, LeMoyne-Owen, and Lane, Watts averaged 20 points, 4.3 assists, and four steals.
Other Top Performers
Ulysses Thomas, Kentucky State
Led the Thorobreds in scoring last week, including 22 points in a win over Claflin.
Ashton Patton, Lane
Patton averaged 13 points, four assists, five rebounds, and 5.3 rebounds last week.
Tydran Beaty, Benedict
The senior forward from Irmo, SC shot 60 percent from the field and hit 21 out of 35 baskets in three wins for the Tigers.
Ladarius Rhone, Stillman
The senior averaged 15.6 points, 2.67 assists, 1.67 blocks, and 9.3 rebounds last week for Stillman, which had a record of 2-1 last week.
Kevin James, Clark Atlanta
James scored a season-high 19 points against Kentucky State last week.
Kedric Taylor, Paine
Taylor averaged 11.6 points and two assists in for the Lions last week.
Shad O'Garro, LeMoyne-Owen
The senior from the Cayman Islands averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Magicians, who went 1-1 last week.
Sharnita Lloyd, Kentucky State
Scored 22 points in a win over Clark Atlanta, and recorded a season-high 28 points in a victory over Claflin. Lloyd, the SIAC's leading scorer, also added 14 rebounds combined in the two games and led KSU to a 2-1 record last week.
Cellonda Crawford, Lane
Grabbed 13 rebounds in the Lady Dragons first SIAC victory of the season against Lane.
Brittany Jackson, Benedict
Jackson averaged 11.3 points and recorded back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Kentucky State and Lane. In the win over Kentucky State, Jackson had a season-high 13 rebounds against Kentucky State.
Angel Mitchell, Stillman
Mitchell averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and four steals for the Lady Tigers, who went 2-1 last week.
Shavon Caldwell, Clark Atlanta
Caldwell led the Lady Panthers in both games this week with 12 points per game.
Ariel Brown, Paine
Brown averaged 15 points and five rebounds for the Lady Lions last week
Ikiah Palmer, Kentucky State
Palmer was an instant spark for the Thorobrettes last week averaging 10 points and 5.3 rebounds in three games. She tied a game-high 14 points against Benedict and was the team's second leading scorer in KSU's victory over Claflin.
