Rapper T.I., who earlier this year launched his “Give Like a King” philanthropy initiative, will be doling out a heaping portion of Christmas cheer to local Atlanta children.
On Friday, the Grammy award-winning rapper will team up with fellow Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy to spread holiday cheer in his Atlanta community, in celebration of children across the metro area. The two will host a toy drive and evening of fun and celebration for more than 1,800 pre-registered Atlanta kids.
The free event happens at Metroplex, 1959 Metropolitan Parkway in Southwest Atlanta, and will include free bowling, skating, food, prizes, arcade games and other surprise celebrity guests. There will also be free, on-site health screenings for all attendees.
“I haven’t always been in a position to give and provide for others and now that I am, I don’t take it for granted,” said T.I. in a statement. “Presents are cool, but to be able to look into a child’s eyes and remind them that they can become and do anything they put their mind to, is one of the greatest gifts we could ever give.”
The “Tis the Season for Giving” event is presented by Music Education Group in partnership with Fulton County Human Services, Metroplex, and T.I.’s Give Like a King Humanitarian Initiative and supported by Grand Hustle, The CTE Family and media partner V-103.
T.I. previously joined Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to host the mayor’s fourth annual turkey giveaway, distributing 700 turkeys to Atlanta families at the Adamsville Recreation Center. In 2013, the giveaway focused on grandparents who are raising grandchildren. It was the second year T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris participated in the turkey giveaway.
This is the first year of the “Tis the Season for Giving” event. Other surprise guests are also expected at the event. Anyone looking to register for the Friday event is encouraged to visit www.CommunityCaresChristmas.Eventbrite.com
