After averaging 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds this past week, Georgia Tech women’s basketball freshman Kaela Davis has again been chosen “ACC Rookie of the Week” – this time for the week of Dec. 9.
This is the second “ACC Rookie of the Week” honor for Davis this season as she also garnered the accolade for the opening week of the season (Nov. 11), following back-to-back double-doubles in the Yellow Jackets’ first two games.
On Dec. 7, Davis recorded season-bests in scoring (29 points) and rebounding (14 boards) on her way to her third double-double of the season. The Suwanee, Ga.-native made seven 3-pointers, which ranks second in the Georgia Tech individual game record book, and ties an ACC single-game high. The 6-2 guard also scored 16 points against Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday, while recording two steals and one assist.
Davis’ 19.8 points per game leads the Yellow Jackets, and ranks fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference. She leads all ACC rookies in scoring. Davis also ranks third in the ACC in 3-point field goals made, with an average of 3.4 made per game. She has gone 27-for-68 from behind the arc this season to record a 39.7 3-shooting percentage from that distance, which leads her team.
Davis has led the Jackets in scoring for five games this season, and two games in rebounding. In four games this season, the freshman has scored 20 points or more and has scored in double-figures in every single game.
