Each month during the 2013 season, the Atlanta Falcons will select a player who has participated in community activities, shown a commitment to giving back to the community and/or went above and beyond on a particular visit. The Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star can be any player on the Falcons roster.

The Atlanta Falcons Community All-Star for the month of October is DT Corey Peters. Peters participated in numerous community activities throughout the month. He attended the 5th annual Atlanta Falcons Dazzle & Dine event at Ray’s on the River in Atlanta. The players ate dinner with the five breast cancer survivors and their guests. The ladies were treated to special day at Van Michael Salon in Atlanta prior to dinner where they received a variety of pampering services. He spoke to employees at Assurant’s United Way campaign kickoff event in Atlanta.

This event encouraged employees to support the United Way and their charitable efforts. Peters spoke about the importance of giving back to the community. Peters visited with students at SCANA Energy’s Homework Center at Dunleith Elementary in Marietta, GA. He read children’s books to the students, talked about the importance of education and answered questions. He participated in the team’s Hometown Huddle event where he was part of a group that visited Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. He also participated in a Rise Up Atlanta volunteer event with Park Pride at Washington Park in Atlanta.

The players were joined by other volunteers from the community. Tasks included beautification of a small pavilion and landscaping at the park.

On Monday, December 16, each of the Community All-Star Winners will be recognized at the annual Atlanta Falcons Community Honors Dinner and one player will be named the 2013 Atlanta Falcons Walter Payton Man of the Year.
