Atlanta Dream Set to Open WNBA Finals at Minnesota

The Atlanta Dream, making its third appearance in the WNBA Finals in four seasons, will open the 2013 WNBA Finals against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 8:30 p.m. ET in Minnesota. Game 2 in the best-of-five series will also be played in Minnesota on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Dream will host Game 3 of the Finals on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8:30 p.m. ET, and if necessary, Game 4 on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. Both games will be played at The Arena at Gwinnett Center due to the unavailability of Philips Arena.

If necessary, Game 5 would be played in Minnesota on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. ET. All games will be nationally televised by either ESPN or ESPN2.

Tickets for Dream home games for the Finals will be available on-line beginning Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. ET, but can be purchased immediately by calling (877) 977-7729.

Atlanta and Minnesota split the regular-season series, with each team winning on its home court. The Lynx finished the regular season with the league’s best record at 26-8 and swept both Seattle and Phoenix to advance to the Finals.

It will be a rematch of the 2011 WNBA Finals, which was won by Minnesota. The Lynx swept the Dream in three games, although all three games were decided by just six points. Minnesota also reached the Finals in 2012, but lost to Indiana in four games.

The two-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its sixth season as part of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Dream has qualified for the playoffs in each of the past five seasons, including back-to-back conference titles in 2010 and 2011.
