The family of former Met pitcher Dwight “Doc” Gooden was evicted from its New Jersey home, according to The New York Daily News.

A restraining order filed by Gooden’s wife in March forced him out of the home earlier this year. His wife and two children moved into the house in 2011, and agreed to pay $4,500 per month for rent. But, according to TMZ, the homeowners claim Doc’s family did not pay rent for March, April, May and June of this year.

Gooden’s lightning-fast pitching skills and 276 strikeouts had earned him the coveted National League Rookie of The Year award in 1986, when he was just 19 years old.

Unfortunately, Gooden fell into reckless spending and drug addiction during his career. After his retirement in 2001, he has been arrested numerous times for drug-related offenses and a domestic violence incident. In 2006, he served seven months in prison for violating his probation by using cocaine.
