Not everyone is reeling with excitement over NeNe Leake’s recent marital bliss. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star is being slapped with a $2.5 million lawsuit by celebrity wedding planner Tiffany Cook for allegedly failing to pay for her extravagant wedding to Greg Leakes.
Cook claims NeNe hired her and her Dream Design Weddings team to coordinate the June 22 nuptials, set to air on the Bravo TV special “I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding.” NeNe apparently agreed to pay her 15 percent of the entire wedding budget — a whopping $1.8 million — along with design and execution fees and travel expenses. Cook says she was due $270,000 (15 percent fee), another $889,900 (design fees) and $1,750 (flight expenses). While NeNe did make the initial down payment of $18,700, the celebrity wedding planner says she has yet to receive any further payments. Cook, who planned fellow RHOA castmates Porsha and Kordell Stewart’s wedding — is now suing her for the remaining $1,142,000 balance along with damages.
NeNe, however, denies Cook even had a part in planning her wedding, citing wedding planner Tony Conway as the mastermind behind her June nuptials. The RHOA star turned to Twitter to share her side of the story, telling folks that Cook is simply trying to seek attention with her false allegations.
“What wedding planner get a million $ 2 plan a wedding! We n the wrong business! Please show me a contract I sign! Show me a check I wrote u,” she wrote on Twitter.
NeNe and Greg’s wedding special “I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding,” is set to air on Sept. 17 on Bravo TV, and we’re convinced this public dispute will only add to the ratings. Will you be watching?
