Former Clark Atlanta University football standout, and now professional boxer, Jonathan “Beauty Salon” Hamm (7-1, 5KO) made his television debut on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights last week in his bout against Daniel Martz (8-1, 6KO) at Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H.

Hamm came up just short against Marks (9-1-1, 6KO’s), who won the six-round majority decision. One judge had the bout even at 57-57, while the other two both scored it for Marks, 59-55 and 58-56. The loss drops Hamm to 7-2 in his pro career, with five knockouts.

Hamm entered the amateur boxing arena in 2010 after a brief stint in the National Football League (NFL) in 2007 with the New Orleans Saints followed by two successful years with the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League (AFL). Prior to his professional football career, he starred for one season (2006) at the defensive end position at Clark Atlanta.

In 2011, he enjoyed the most decorated year of his professional boxing career thus far as he ranked No.1 in the U.S. as a super heavy-weight boxer and was crowned the U.S. national champion. He then earned an alternate spot in the super heavy-weight division of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Hamm is native of Atlanta.
