DeKalb Police have released photos of a suspect from the Stone Mountain Kroger shooting that left a 2-year-old boy in the hospital.

The suspect is believed to be African American, was wearing ripped blue jeans, black and white sneakers and a long navy blue t-shirt.

“We’ve got to get this guy off the streets,” DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander said at a press conference Thursday morning at county police headquarters in Tucker.

The shooter fired his gun multiple times into a car where the boy was, critically injuring him and then disappeared, according to reports.

Police said the boy’s father tried to stop a mugging that was taking place outside of the Kroger at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Soon afterward the mugging suspect fired close to 10 shots into the man’s car.

Witnesses to the incident say the boy was carried into the supermarket and given first aid by a pharmacist until an ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital.
