Board members of Atlanta Public Schools (APS) are asking for the public’s help in deciding the district’s next superintendent.

Parents, teachers and members of the community have until Monday to complete an online survey that lists the important characteristics a superintendent should have.

Current Superintendent Erroll Davis, who was hired in an interim capacity, is set to begin an 18-month contract extension.

Davis was pulled out of retirement as a chancellor of the University System of Georgia to help straighten out the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal where former Superintendent Beverly Hall was charged with racketeering along with teachers and administrators being fired.

There will be two meetings on Monday. The first, at 5 p.m.,will allow the committee to give a status update on the search and at 6 p.m. there will be a community meeting where the public is invited to weigh in on the next superintendent.

Meetings will be held at the APS Center for Learning and Leadership, 130 Trinity Avenue, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30303.
