A man is dead after Atlanta police say he tried to rob a group of people on Moreland Ave. Saturday night who were camped out for the release of the latest LeBron James shoes.

Police have not released the name of the suspected robber or the man who shot him, but have said witnesses interviewed so far suggest that the killing was in self defense.

Reports say that the gunman approached a group at around 5:30 a.m. outside of the Wish clothing store that was waiting for the release of the LeBron X Denim shoes with a gun in hand and tried to rob them. The group was outside waiting for the store to open.
Taylor White, who was in line to buy the shoes told WSB-TV that the would-be robber should have thought twice.

“I didn’t even expect him to come up here, thinking it was that sweet. Thinking it’s that Candy Land like that,” White said. “He wanted to pickpocket everybody. But people out here, they weren’t going for none of that.”

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said that no charges have been filed in the case so far.
