Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed spoke out Sunday about celebrity chef Paula Deen who admitted recently to using racial slurs in the past.

“It was just very unfortunate and totally unacceptable language,” Reed said on NBC’s “Meet The Press” on Sunday morning.

Deen is being sued by one of her former restaurant managers for $1.2 million alleging she knew and did nothing about her brother’s racial and sexual harassment.

“Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable,” Deen said in a YouTube post. “Please forgive me for the mistakes that I have made.”

Fans standing outside of her Savannah restaurant, The Lady and Sons, were upset.

“It breaks my heart. I’ve watched her a long time,” one woman said.

The Food Network dropped Deen on Friday and QVC is thinking about doing the same.

“Folks are going to be hearing what she has to say over the next few weeks,” said Reed. “I think she has apologized once. She’s going to continue to do that.”
