On Sunday, Morehouse will celebrate the graduation of more than 500 young men. Of those newly inducted members to the Morehouse brotherhood will be a father and son.

Dorian Joyner, Sr began his matriculation at the all-male liberal arts school back in 1984, but stopped short of finishing in 1988.

Dorian’s son, Dorian Joyner, Jr., was a freshman at the college when Dorian Sr. finally decided to come back and finish his degree.

“I said, ‘Oh, you’re coming back to visit some of your friends?'” Joyner Jr told 11 Alive recalling his father’s announcement to return. “And [Dorian, Sr.] said ‘no, I’m coming back to be a student.’ I said – can you repeat that?”

For the past three years, the two have been learning from and pushing each other.

“We’re Morehouse brothers,” both Joyners said.

Joyner, Sr plans to attend law school and hopes to become a judge while Joyner, Jr has applied to the Peace Corps, where he plans to work before attending film school.
