DTE Energy Senior Manager named to Top 75 diversity list John Eley Jr. …

DETROIT – DTE Energy’s John Eley Jr. was named one of Minority Business News USA (MBN USA) magazine’s Top 75 Leading Men in Corporate Supplier Diversity for 2013.

Eley is DTE Energy’s senior manager of corporate procurement and supplier diversity.

“I am honored to be named one of MBN USA magazine’s Top 75 Leading Men in Corporate Supplier Diversity,” said Eley. “I believe a commitment to diversity leads to a better workforce, a better workplace environment and ultimately stronger communities. I am happy that I work for DTE Energy, a company that shares my perspective.”

Since joining the company in 2008, Eley has helped to create a program at DTE that encourages the mentoring of diverse suppliers currently partnering with the company and those aspiring to do so.

DTE serves 2.1 million electric customers and 1.2 million natural gas customers across Michigan.

MBN USA selected Eley for playing a role in ensuring that “markets are made more innovative and competitive as a result of increasingly diverse and inclusive supply chains.”

“We can learn from our suppliers and even serve as mentors as they learn how to best meet our needs,” said Eley. “When it comes to diversity, everyone wins.”

Eley is a member of the Center for Economic Empowerment and Development (CEED) Board of Directors and Executive Committee, serves as a representative to the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Supplier Diversity Committee and is a member of The Conference Board Supplier Diversity Leadership Council.
