Today the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority released a statement on changes to its bus and rail service effective Saturday, April 27. The full release, detailing all changes is below.
In order to accommodate scheduled track work, MARTA will modify rail service on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28, 2013, and customers traveling this weekend are advised to please allow extra time for their trip. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience as we conduct this work to keep our system operating at its highest level.
Red Line trains will only operate between North Springs and Lindbergh; therefore, service between Lindbergh and Airport Stations will be running at a reduced frequency – every 20 minutes. Customers traveling from North Springs will need to transfer to a Gold Line train at Lindbergh Station in order to continue southbound. Customers traveling northbound from the Airport will need to board a Gold Line train and transfer to a Red Line train at Lindbergh Station to continue to North Springs Station.
At Lakewood and Oakland City Stations, all trains will board on the northbound platforms.
On Sunday only, Blue and Green Line trains will operate on a special 24-minute single-tracking schedule. Green Line trains will shuttle from Bankhead to Ashby. At Vine City, Ashby, and Bankhead Stations, all trains will board on the eastbound platforms.
MARTA is conducting regularly scheduled track work as part of its Capital Improvement Program to rebuild and upgrade the rail system to enhance the overall safety and reliability of the service.
