Man Found Dead at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

The body of a male passenger was found at the bottom of an escalator in Concourse E at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Saturday evening.

Atlanta Police believe the man either jumped or fell from the top level of the escalator. The victim was unresponsive when found and later taken to Grady Hospital where he died. He is not believed to be from the Metro Atlanta area.

The police’s claim of a man jumping has been called into question by some travelers at the airport.

“Going down the normal escalators, they had it roped off with yellow tape,” said Michael Richter, a frequent flier. “For somebody to jump, why go to the airport and jump from inside security?”

The identity of the passenger has remained anonymous as the incident remains under investigation.
