The Clark Atlanta University baseball team rearranged its weekend home series against Paine College to play the Lions in the Fifth Annual Jackie Robinson Day HBCU Baseball Classic Friday, April 12 at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m., at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina, sponsored by the South Atlantic League Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

Though this game will take the place of the teams’ Saturday, April 13 double-header that was to be played at CAU’s home field (Bill Evans Field), the Panthers will still host Paine Sunday, April 14 in a 1 p.m. single nine-inning game at Bill Evans Field for their final home game and Senior Day recognition.

This classic game that showcases two HBCU teams is held annually at Fluor Field in conjunction with Jackie Robinson Day that is celebrated on April 15. Fluor Field, located at 954 South Main Street, Greenville, South Carolina, 29601, is home to the Greenville Drive Baseball Team which is a Minor League Class “A” Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. This year marks the first time both Paine and Clark Atlanta have played in this game. Tickets for the game are $10, $8, and $7 for reserved seating and can be purchased on the day of the game at Fluor Field or in advance by calling 864-240-4528.

With a win, the Panthers (8-18 overall record) will improve their chances for the fourth and final spot in the SIAC East Division and a trip to the conference championship tournament. They currently sit in fifth place with a 4-7 conference record.  This season, CAU has won more games than in the last several years while leading the conference in fewest hits allowed with a .925 fielding percentage that ranks them fourth in the conference.
