MARTA Rail Service to Begin at 5 a.m. for the Publix Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon, March 17

On March 17, 2013, MARTA makes it easy for runners, spectators and volunteers to sprint to the Publix Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon with rail service beginning at 5 a.m. The Marathon begins at 7 a.m.

Participants can travel conveniently to the start and finish line at Centennial Olympic Park by taking the Red or Gold lines to the Peachtree Center Station. Participants are encouraged to arrive at their station before 5 a.m. in order to catch the first train. Sunday’s rail schedule is posted at www.itsmarta.com.

Customers traveling from the Blue or Green lines will transfer at Five Points rail station to any northbound train and ride one stop to the Peachtree Center rail station. Spectators can also get to a number of locations on the course using MARTA. For more information about the event, visit https://georgiamarathon.com/default.htm.

For only $2.50 each way (plus a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card), MARTA makes it easy and affordable to travel to the race. Participants are encouraged to purchase a roundtrip fare at the beginning of their trip for added convenience. Fares can be purchased with cash, credit or debit cards at all 38 rail stations.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Center station must park in MARTA designated areas and validate their parking ticket at machines inside Lindbergh station in order to receive free daily parking. Please note that MARTA has some designated lots which
charge a fee including lots at Lenox, Brookhaven, Kensington, and College Park Stations.

In addition, MARTA’s Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center station provides direct access to the Publix Georgia Marathon Health & Fitness Expo at the Georgia Dome on Friday, March 15th and Saturday, March 16th.

Due to race-related street closures, MARTA buses will experience detours and delays. The following 16 bus routes will be re-routed, and in some cases, will travel to alternate rail stations. These re-routes will begin at the start of Sunday morning bus service and will continue until the end of the Marathon at 2:00 p.m.
