Lady Panthers Top Albany State; Men Lose in Final Home Game

The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers held off a feisty Albany State University team for a 64-59 win while the Panthers fell to 3-11 in the conference with a 59-49 loss to the Golden Rams in their final home game at Epps Gymnasium on Monday.

A double-double effort by senior La’Quisha Lewis was a lift for the Lady Panthers (14-10, SIAC 9-3) as she poured in 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Conisha Hicks and senior Shavon Caldwell added 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Clark Atlanta’s slight advantage at the half, 30-26, was just enough as the the Lady Panthers claimed a five-point win.

April Thomas scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Rams (8-15, SIAC 6-9).

CAU Men Fall to Albany State

Glyndelle Poole led the Panthers (4-20, SIC 3-11) with 10 of his season-high 18 points in the first period as they claimed a one-point advantage at the half.

However, CAU relinquished the lead midway through the second period as Albany State pulled ahead and never looked back.

Jarrell Joye chipped in 12 points while Kevin James finished with nine. For the Golden Rams, Jaren Harries scored a team-high 20 points.

CAU will travel to Fort Valley State on Thursday, Feb. 21 for a 5:30 p.m. (women’s), and 7:30 p.m. (men’s) match-up, before the Panthers face Morehouse College in an AUC re-match at Forbes Arena on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m.
