Panthers Baseball Splits Non-Divisional Matchup

Clark Atlanta University freshman Devin Franklin threw a complete game in the Panthers’ 3-2 win over Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) non-divisional opponent Miles College in game two of a double-header after falling 11-5 in game one on the road Sunday.

The Panthers (4-6) jumped out an early 3-1 lead after the first inning before Miles went on a scoring frenzy in the fifth with six runs to lift the Bears in game one.  Marcus Cobb recorded his first loss on the mound for CAU. In a low scoring second game, Kelvin Tanner’s fourth-inning RBI single along with Marcus McDaniels’ RBI double gave Clark Atlanta the lead for good. Franklin, who finished the game with two strikeouts and only seven hits allowed, picked up his first win on the season.

Next, CAU will host Selma University in a weekend series March 1-2, at Bill Evans Field for a 1 p.m., start both days.
