“Django Unchained” star, Jamie Foxx, is the latest entertainer to sharply criticize legendary director Spike Lee over his blanket negative assessment of the film and its creator, Quentin Tarantino, saying that the iconic film-maker had “run his course,” reports The Guardian.

“The question for me is: where’s Spike Lee coming from?” Foxx said. “He didn’t like Whoopi Goldberg, he doesn’t like Tyler Perry, he doesn’t like anybody, I think he’s sort of run his course. I mean, I respect Spike, he’s a fantastic director. But he gets a little shady when he’s taking shots at his colleagues without looking at the work. To me, that’s irresponsible.”

Wow, tell us how you really feel, Jamie!

The actor said that people are having an emotional reaction to the film:

“They knee-jerked to slavery, they knee-jerked towards the n-word. But I come from the south and that’s where the word grew. And I think that gave me an upper hand on the material. I know people like Stephen. I know people like Calvin Candie. I played cheese-and-wine parties for men who called us niggers. But my grandmother worked as a housemaid all her life and she taught me some truths. I learned those lessons and I learned them in the south, and I did a pretty good job of it too.

As previously reported by NewsOne, venerable author, activist and comedian Dick Gregory and entertainer Luke ‘Uncle Luke’ Campbell have both spoken out against Lee, as well.

Gregory called the director a “punk” and a “thug,” while Campbell went even further:

“Spike is upset because Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the movie is just like him: a conniving and scheming Uncle Tom.”

Comedian Katt Williams, on the other hand, had some choice words for Tarantino and the black actors in the film:

“Quentin Tarantino thinks he can say the N-word. But I checked with all of Ni**adom and nobody knows where he got his pass from. I hope he didn’t get it from Samuel L. Jackson and Jamie Foxx cause they aren’t going to help you when I see you.

“Quentin Tarantino is no Steven Spielberg. Steven Spielberg doesn’t wanna be black, Quentin Tarantino thinks he is. So when he meets a real ni**a, we’ll see if he is or not.”
