After opening a 17-0 lead to start the game, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers cruised to a 90-39 victory over Lane College at Epps Gymnasium Saturday,

CAU had a 47-24 advantage at the half and held the Lady Dragons to 15 total second half points. Four Lady Panthers, led by guards Iyana Spatcher and Conisha Hicks with 13 points each, scored in double-digits including Erika Sumpter with 10 and Nekia Sockwell with 11 off the bench. Sumpter and La’Quisha Lewis dominated the paint as they pulled down 12 and 11 boards, respectively while Sumpter recorded her second consecutive double-double.

As a team, CAU shot 48 percent from the field and finished with 16 steals led by Hicks who had five. Lane’s Dellonda Crawford topped the Lady Dragons with a game-high 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Next, the Lady Panthers (5-6, SIAC 2-0) will host Kentucky State University Monday, Jan. 7, at 6 p.m., in Epps Gymnasium before their three-game road swing.
