Ryan Cameron Makes Morning Show Debut

It was a changing of the guard Wednesday morning on V-103 as Ryan Cameron officially took over as the morning host for the radio station.

Cameron replaced Frank Ski and Wanda Smith, who left the station last month and had their final show air Dec. 20.

“The main thing that was important to me was the fact that my son said, ‘You’ll be there when I get off the bus,'” Cameron said in an interview this morning with WXIA. “To do afternoons for almost eight years when my kids were very young, I did miss the first day of school, I did miss the kindergarten play dates. I didn’t get to do all that. So now they’re older and I get to be there when they get off the bus.”

This is not Cameron’s first morning rodeo. He previously hosted a morning show on HOT 107.9 for several years before moving to afternoons on V-103.

Big Tigger, a native of Washington D.C. and former host of BET’s “Rap City” will take over Cameron’s old slot on V-103 at 2 p.m. today.

“Big Tigger he’s coming in, he’s already well known and we’re gonna make a fun day for everybody,” Cameron said. “Keep it locked. We’re about to do some big things in 2013.”

Cameron will also likely be hiring a third person for the show to handle entertainment news reporting.

The change was brought about when V-103 was unable to come to an agreement with Ski, who reportedly wanted to be put into syndication, he left and Smith followed suit.

Cameron’s show today features calls from his son Cayden as well as former Frank and Wanda sidekick Miss Sophia and a man-on-the-street comedian who has been dubbed Funny Boo Boo.
