Ga. Tech Beats So. Cal In Sun Bowl
Quarterback Tevin Washington threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score to lead the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech to a 21-7 victory over the Trojans of USC on Dec. 31 in front of a crowd of 47,922 at Sun Bowl Stadium.
Washington’s 1-yard touchdown run in the third made it 14-7, and he found Orwin Smith for a 17-yard touchdown pass in the fourth.
UGA Caps Season With 45-31 Win Over Nebraska
Aaron Murray threw for 428 yards and five touchdowns as the Georgia Bulldogs set a Capital One Bowl record with 589 total yards in beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 45-31, on New Years Day in Orlando, Fla.
The Bulldogs recorded the biggest play of the game when Murray hit Chris Conley on a slip screen as he sprinted for an 87-yard touchdown. The score was UGA’s longest pass play of the season and gave them the game-winning margin.
