Andruw Jones, a former standout outfielder for the Atlanta Braves, was arrested in Gwinnett County on Christmas Day in connection with a domestic incident involving his wife, police said.
Jones was charged with battery, after Gwinnett police said they arrived at around 1:25 a.m. Tuesday to a house on Grey Moss Court near Duluth, "in reference to a domestic dispute invovling husband and wife," police said in a statement.
Jones was arrested after police said they investigated the incident.
The five-time all-star outfielder was booked into the Gwinnett County jail around 4 a.m. and was released close to 11 a.m. on $2,500 bond, jail records showed. Further details of the incident were not immediately available.
Jones, who is now 35 and recently signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League, began his career with the Braves in 1996 and played 12 seasons in Atlanta before signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008. He has since played for three different teams.
