Dion Rabouin is the new digital editor for the Atlanta Daily World. In this role he will be responsible for managing daily news uploads to the World's new web site as well as writing and editing news stories.
"We are pleased to have this smart, energetic young man join the World team," said Charlotte Roy, Atlanta Daily World managing editor. "He's a crackerjack writer with a real "nose for news'."
Prior to taking the post, Rabouin worked as a freelance writer and editor in Atlanta and Los Angeles, where he wrote for publications that ranged from Beverly Hills Times Magazine to AllBusiness.com. His articles have been published in The Hollywood Reporter, LA Daily News, The Atlanta Voice, Huffington Post's Black Voices and many others. As a freelance writer he covered topics ranging from business and finance to entertainment and from breaking news to college football.
"It's almost impossible to articulate how excited I am to be a part of The Atlanta Daily World," said Rabouin. "The history and importance of this newspaper is second-to-none and we are headed for bigger things than even the most wide-eyed optimist can imagine."
In addition to his work with various online and print publications, Rabouin has been featured on Los Angeles radio stations 90.7 KPFK and Southern California Public Radio's 89.3 KPCC, as well as on Atlanta's WAEC 860 and WIGO 1570. He also worked as a contributor for multiple television programs including RT News and "Today in LA."
Rabouin also has amassed experience online, having worked as a social media specialist and community manager for start-up websites and blogs. He has used his knowledge of search engine optimization, keywords and social media to help grow websites and increase the online exposure and presence of multiple companies and individuals.
Rabouin is a member of the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists as well as the National Association of Black Journalists, and previously served as secretary to the Black Journalists Association of Southern California.
He is originally from Denver and is a graduate of Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
