MARTA to Implement Service Changes Beginning Saturday Dec. 15

MARTA announced that it will implement service changes on many of its bus routes starting on Saturday, December 15, 2012.

The organization says the changes were made “to improve safety, on-time performance and overall service for customers.” A full list of changes to all bus routes is below and new schedules and maps are available in stations, Ridestores and on MARTA’s website. The outbound routing from Five Points Station will be realigned to eliminate route duplication within the Five Points area and to improve travel time and schedule adherence. From Broad and Alabama Streets, Route 1 will continue along Alabama Street, right-Peachtree Street, right-Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, right-Spring Street and continue its regular route. The segment along Forsyth Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Marietta Street and along Marietta Street to Spring Street will be discontinued for outbound trips departing Five Points Station only. The inbound routing to Five Points Station remains unchanged. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change. Service frequencies remain unchanged.

4 – Thomasville/

Moreland Avenue

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The inbound routing from Forest Park

Road and Redford Drive to Inman Park/Reynoldstown Station will be realigned to eliminate the potentially hazardous left turn from Isa Drive onto Moreland Avenue. Route 4 will maintain current routing to Isa Drive and Kipling Street then take a left-Kipling Street, right-Henry Thomas Drive, right-McDonough Blvd., left-Moreland Avenue and continue its regular route. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change and improve schedule adherence. Service frequencies remain unchanged.

5 – Piedmont Road/

Sandy Springs

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

15 – South DeKalb/

Candler Road

Weekdays

One earlier inbound trip departing Georgia Perimeter College at 5:05 AM will be implemented. Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence and bus to bus connectivity.

19 – Clairmont Road

Weekdays

The outbound trips departing Decatur Station will no longer provide direct service to the North DeKalb Health Center. Service to the Center will be provided along Clairmont Road only. The trips departing Chamblee Station will continue to provide direct service to North DeKalb Health Center.

21 – Memorial Drive

Weekdays

The 7:15 AM school day trip that departs King Memorial Station and terminates at Crim High School will be discontinued. All other trips and service frequencies remain unchanged.

25 – Peachtree Industrial Blvd./

Johnson Ferry Road

Saturdays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

32 – Bouldercrest/

Georgia Aquarium

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

All trips before 9:00 AM will terminate at Five Points Station on all service days. Service to Civic Center Station will be maintained during the hours of 9:00 AM-7:30 PM on all service days. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change and improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

33 -Briarcliff Road/Lenox

Weekdays

The 5:15 AM trips departing Chamblee Station and Lenox Station will be revised to depart at 5:10 AM. The trip departing Chamblee Station at 6:35 PM will be revised to depart at 6:42 PM and the trip departing Lenox Station at 7:31 PM will be revised to depart at 7:38 PM. These trips will be revised to improve rail to bus connectivity. All other trip times and service frequencies remain unchanged.

34 – Gresham Road/

Clifton Springs

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Route 34 will be extended along Clifton Springs Road to the Clifton Springs Health Center during the hours of 7:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays only. Additionally, the weekday service after 7:00 PM will be improved from 50 to 45 minutes. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service changes and improve schedule adherence on all service days.

39 – Buford Highway

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

50 – Donald L. Hollowell

Parkway

Weekdays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

51 – Joseph E. Boone Blvd./

Dixie Hills

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The outbound routing from Five Points Station will be realigned to eliminate route duplication within the Five Points area and to improve travel time and schedule adherence. From Broad and Alabama Streets, Route 51 will operate via right-Alabama Street, right-Peachtree Street, right-Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, right-Spring Street, left-Marietta Street and continue regular routing. The segment along Alabama Street between Broad and Forsyth Streets, Forsyth Street between Alabama and Marietta Streets and Marietta Street between Forsyth and Spring Streets will be discontinued for outbound trips departing Five Points Station only. The inbound routing to Five Points Station remains unchanged. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

53 – Skipper Drive/

West Lake Avenue

Weekdays

The 5:35 PM trip departing West Lake Station will be revised to depart at 5:38 PM to improve rail to bus connectivity. All other trip times and service frequencies remain unchanged.

55 – Jonesboro Road/

Hutchens Road

Weekdays

An additional outbound trip departing Alabama and Broad Streets at 7:30 AM will be implemented to operate on weekday school days only to address overcrowding. All other trip times and service frequencies remain unchanged.

58 – Atlanta Industrial/

Hollywood Road

Weekdays & Saturdays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

68 – Donnelly/Beecher

Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

73 – Fulton Industrial

Weekdays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

81 – Venetian Drive/

Adams Park

Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

82 – Camp Creek/

Welcome All

Weekdays

The 7:01 AM trip departing College Park Station and the 5:05 PM trip departing Stonewall Tell Road will be realigned to operate via the Georgia Department of Revenue Facility. Service to the facility will be provided along Welcome All Road for all other trips. Trip times and service frequencies remain unchanged.

84 – East Point/Camp Creek

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The inbound and outbound routing will be realigned to eliminate a potentially hazardous right turn onto Welcome All Road. Route 84 will maintain current routing from East Point Station to Old Fairburn Road and Welcome All Road then continue Fairburn Road, right-North Camp Creek Parkway to Hogan Road which will be the new terminus for Route 84. Inbound to East Point Station, Route 84 will operate right-Hogan Road, left-Fairburn Road, continue Old Fairburn Road, left-Camp Creek Parkway and continue regular route. The Welcome All Road segment will be discontinued. Additionally, the weekday service after 7:00 PM and all day Sunday service frequencies will be widened from 40 to 45 minutes. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change and improve schedule adherence.

85 – Roswell/Mansell Road

Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

86 – Fairington Road/

McAfee Road

Saturdays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

93 – East Point/Delowe Drive

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The weekday service frequency after 7:00 PM will be widened from 45 to 60 minutes. The Saturday and Sunday service frequencies will be improved from 45 to 30 minutes all day to improve schedule adherence. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change.

99 – Boulevard/Monroe Drive

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The weekday trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. Additionally, the Saturday and Sunday service frequencies will be widened from 60 to 65 minutes to improve schedule adherence.

107 – Glenwood Road

Saturdays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

126 – Northlake/Chamblee

Weekdays

The 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM trips departing Chamblee Station will be revised to improve rail to bus connectivity.

140 – North Point/

Mansell Road Park & Ride

Weekdays

The 6:20 AM trip departing North Springs Station will be revised to depart at 6:23 AM to improve rail to bus connectivity. All other trip times and service frequencies remain unchanged.

143 – Windward Park & Ride

Weekdays

The 5:30 AM trip departing Windward Park & Ride will be revised to depart at 5:25 AM and the 7:10 AM trip will be revised to depart at 7:05 AM to improve bus to rail connectivity. All other trip times remain unchanged.

150 – Perimeter Center/

Dunwoody Village

Weekdays

The 6:18 AM trip departing Dunwoody Station will be revised to depart at 6:21 AM to improve rail to bus connectivity. All other trip times remain unchanged.

162 – Headland Drive/

Alison Court

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Direct services along North Camp Creek Parkway to Stone Creek Apartment Homes will be realigned to operate as follows: During AM hours (beginning of service until 12:00PM) Route 162 will operate via North Camp Creek Parkway inbound to Oakland City Station only. During PM hours (after 12:00PM to end of service) Route 162 will operate via North Camp Creek Parkway outbound from Oakland City Station on all service days. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change and improve schedule adherence.

170 – Brownlee Road/Peyton

Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

178 – Empire Blvd./

Southside Industrial Park

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The last two trips departing Lakewood/Fort McPherson Station and terminating at Hamilton Blvd. have been extended to complete the Hapeville loop and terminate service at Old Hapeville Road and Cleveland Avenue on all service days and is in operation in the current schedules.

180 – Fairburn/Palmetto

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Trip times will be revised to improve schedule adherence. The service frequencies remain unchanged.

186 – Rainbow Drive/

South DeKalb

Weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays

The outbound routing from Pryor and Wall Streets will be realigned to eliminate potentially hazardous turns and congestion within the Five Points area. From Pryor and Wall Streets, Route 186 will maintain current routing to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Forsyth Street then continue Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, right-Spring Street, right-Marietta Street and continue its regular route. The segment along Forsyth Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Marietta Street will be discontinued. Trip times will be revised to accommodate the service change and improve schedule adherence. Service frequencies remain unchanged.
