South Dekalb Schools on Lockdown as Police Search for Robbery Suspect

A manhunt near the intersection of Panola Road and Young Road has caused the lockdown of several schools in south Dekalb County Friday morning.

Police searched for a robbery suspect who allegedly fired at officers after robbing a Family Dollar store.

DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish told the AJC that police did not return fire, according to Parish, and no officers have been injured.

Panola Road was blocked while police searched for the suspect.

Redan Middle School on Young Road, along with nearby Panola Way and Marbut elementary schools, were on lockdown because of the manhunt.
