West End Fire Station Revamped

Mayor Kasim Reed was recently presented with a drawing of historic Fire Station No. 7 at a meeting of the West End Merchant Coalition (WEMC). The mayor announced the re-opening of the station, which is located at 535 Whitehall Street, as an emergency dispatch and community center. The station was closed in 2008 by Mayor Shirley Franklin, who cited the City’s budget deficit as the reason. However, the merchant’s association made a commitment to the community to raise funds for Fire Station #7’s restoration.
