Southwest Atlanta Holds Community Parade in Conjunction With Annual Fall Festival

Atlanta City Council Member C.T. Martin will join the students, faculty, and alumni of Benjamin E. Mays High School and Emc2: Embracing Mays Community & Cluster Schools for a community parade on Saturday, November 17.

The 10:00 a.m. parade starts at Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church, 2545 Benjamin E. Mays Drive and ends at Jean Childs Young Middle School, 3116 Benjamin E. Mays Drive.

The parade will travel northwest for 1.20 miles on Mays Drive and end by the ball field at Young Middle School.

“This event provides families an opportunity to enjoy a free, fun-filled day in the community,” said Martin. “I’m pleased to join them again this year for this much anticipated event.”

Afterwards, Post 3 At-Large City Council Member H. Lamar Willis invites residents to the annual Southwest Community Fall Festival at Jean Childs Young Middle School. This year’s festivities will include food, games, candy, music, and more.

Entertainment will include performances by Mays High School and Jean Childs Young Middle School marching bands, DJ Era, and Cardio Tone, who will give festival goers a workout while teaching them the latest urban line dances. The festival begins at 11 a.m. immediately following the parade.
